Labiaplasty in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Al Ain

A labiaplasty surgically reshapes the external appearance of the genitalia. In women of reproductive age, the size of the labia minora can vary considerably. A woman may opt for a labiaplasty for cosmetic reasons and/or to treat functional impairment.

Some women feel self-conscious about the outward appearance of their genitalia. They view their inner labia as abnormally long, which causes them emotional distress during intimate encounters. These women undergo a labiaplasty to reduce the size of the labia.

Other women with elongated labia may choose to undergo a labiaplasty to alleviate symptoms that can arise from increased labia size. These symptoms include discomfort during sexual intercourse and/or while wearing tight-fitting clothing as well as interference with exercise and normal daily activities.

Surgical techniques

Depending on each patient’s unique surgery plan, a Labiaplasty can be performed under general anesthesia or local anesthesia with sedation. Your Doctor will specify which anesthesia and surgical method will be used. The two most common approaches in performing a Labiaplasty are the Trim Method and the Wedge Method.

• Tim Method
  An incision is made to remove the outer edges of the labia to make them inline or slightly shorter than the outer labia. This technique has the advantage of trimming away the naturally darkest part of the labia.
• Wedge Method
  Leaving the outer edges intact, a V-shaped “wedge” is removed from both sides of the labia and stitched back together.

What to expect during recovery?

After the procedure, your plastic surgeon will provide you with details post-operative instructions which should be followed precisely. Instructions will include incision care, hygiene care, and other important instructions which will ensure a safe and optimal recovery. Your plastic surgeon may also prescribe pain medications to help relieve and manage pain and discomfort.

Recovery varies from patient to patient, but most women are able to resume regular routine within one to two weeks. However, refraining from sexual intercourse for at least 6 weeks after the surgery is a requirement to ensure the best possible healing and results.
