Breast Implants in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Al Ain

What shape and implant type should I choose?

The selection process should happen after your plastic surgeon has informed you about the implant types, shapes, and sizes in detail. An expert surgeon will provide several options that may vary in shape and size that suitably fit within the range of your body proportions. Your plastic surgeon should be able to answer any questions or concerns you may have. Your surgeon should discuss the pros and cons of each breast implant variation, as well he or she should give you all necessary information to help you make a clear and confident decision.

Breast augmentation is mainly done to enhance both the shape and the size of the breasts. During the consultation, your plastic surgeon will discuss your reasons and goals for wanting to undergo this cosmetic procedure. Your surgeon will help you develop realistic expectations of what a breast augmentation can achieve for you, aiming for the most desirable results that meet your aesthetic goals.

You may be considering a breast implant if:

  • You are unhappy with the size of your breasts
  • You wish to enhance the shape and size of your breasts
  • The appearance of your breasts has changed after pregnancy or weight loss
  • You have undergone surgery that has affected your breasts (mastectomy)

What is the difference between Saline and Silicone Breast Implants?

Both silicone and saline breast implants have an outer silicone shell and differ in the filler material and consistency.

Saline breast implants are inserted empty and then filled with sterile salt water once in place. Should the implant rupture and leak, the outer shell of the implant will collapse, and the saline liquid will be absorbed, and naturally expelled by the body. Saline implants provide a consistent shape, feel and firmness, and are FDA-approved for breast augmentation.

Silicone breast implants are most popular amongst women, as they are known to look and feel more like natural breast tissue. Silicone implants are FDA-approved, pre-filled with a sticky, thick fluid (silicone gel) that closely resembles the feel of human fat. If a silicone implant ruptures the implant will not collapse. The gel will remain within the implant shell, in some more severe rupture cases, the gel can protrude into the breast implant pocket. However, visiting your doctor for regular annual breast exams is recommended to monitor your breast implants for any abnormalities.

Teardrop Breast Implants vs. Round Breast Implants

Round breast implants are the most popular implant shape, as they provide more fullness (on the upper part of the breast) and create a well-proportioned, soft breast. Round implants come in a range of different degrees and diameters of projection that give your surgeon flexibility when fitting them to your body shape. Diameters of projection vary from low, moderate, to high. Depending on the desired outcome, your surgeon will help you to understand which round implant projection and size is most suitable to achieve your desired goals. Round implants are available in both silicone and saline implants.

Teardrop breast implants also referred to as “gummy bear” implants, are available as a silicone implant to maintain their shape. Just as with round implants, teardrop implants are available in a wide variety of shapes and dimensions. The cohesive gel filling used in this range of implants is firmer than a traditional round silicone implant and can feel more obviously felt in patients with less breast tissue and fat. Teardrop implants, in some cases, can look more natural, but they may not feel more natural, due to the firmness of the implant.
