Before the surgery

During the surgery

Neck Lift surgery is performed under local or general anesthetic as a day case or an overnight procedure. Minimally invasive neck rejuvenation treatments, such as liposuction, are usually performed as outpatient procedures under local anesthetic.

During the procedure, the surgeon will make small incisions to remove excess fat and tighten the underlying muscles. They will then lift and pull the skin tightly over the neck muscles, removing excess skin and closing the wound with dissolvable sutures.

Neck lift takes about 1-2 hours to perform, depending on the complexity of the condition.

The incisions are strategically placed in the natural skin crease in front of the ears, behind the ears and within the hairline so they remain hidden. The number of incisions will depend on the degree of skin laxity and the complexity of the surgery, but they will heal in 7 to 10 days.

Recovery after Surgery

After surgery, your neck will be wrapped with bandages to minimize swelling. Your surgeon will prescribe some medications to reduce discomfort and advise you on what to do to avoid excessive swelling and bruising as you heal. You can resume your daily activities about two weeks after your surgery. Your neck may feel tight for 3 to 4 weeks, but this feeling will gradually subside.
