Orthodontics for children

Braces

  • Removable braces are unobtrusive aligners that can be tolerated to be worn by children to correct crossbites, deep overbites and reverse bites. For the best result, we’ll advise you how long your child will need to wear their removable braces as part of their treatment plan.
  • Functional braces are worn in both upper and lower jaws to improve jaw relationships and poor bites by matching upper and lower teeth together in children and adolescents. They work by holding the lower jaw in a forward position and hence help to harmonize the facial appearance. Functional braces are typically worn from nine to twelve months on a full-time basis, but they can be removed to allow brace and teeth cleaning.
  • Fixed braces consist of a series of small square brackets cemented to the teeth. These brackets can be tailored so that every tooth has its suitable bracket design to achieve an optimal result.
  • Invisible braces are suitable for less complex cases and are a popular alternative to fixed braces as they are discrete in appearance and can be removed during meals and for cleaning.
  • Retainers are a vital part of orthodontic treatment, which prevents teeth from slipping back towards their original positions “relapse” after completion of orthodontic treatment.

We will explain the advantages of these options to you and how to achieve the best results.

Myobrace

Incorrect myofunctional habits like mouth breathing, tongue thrusting, and thumb sucking often cause crowded teeth, incorrect jaw development.

To address these oral habits, Novomed Dental Clinic offers myofunctional treatment which includes the use of a series of removable dental appliances that are worn for just 1-2 hours each day and overnight while sleeping.

Myobrace is a hugely successful preventive pre-orthodontic treatment that help treat the underlying causes of crooked teeth and poor jaw development, often with no braces, allowing for natural growth and development.

Using a Myobrace on a daily basis combined with regular activities to improve breathing, muscle function and tongue posture results in straighter teeth and improved function, leading to optimal facial development and a healthier smile.
