Hip Pain Treatment in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Al Ain

Overview

Hip pain is a condition experienced by many people and caused by various factors, such as age or overuse. The exact location of your hip discomfort can reveal important information regarding the underlying problem; problems with the hip joint cause pain on the inside of the hip or groin, while muscle, tendon, ligament, or soft tissue problems cause pain on the outside of the hip, glutes, or upper thigh.

Pain can also radiate to the hip from other body areas (referred pain), such as the lower back.

It’s possible to manage minor hip pain by taking some rest, avoiding pressure on the hip, applying ice packs, and taking over-the-counter pain medications. However, you should seek medical attention if these methods don’t work or your pain is caused by an injury accompanied by intense pain, sudden swelling, inability to move hip or leg or bear weight on the affected leg.

What are the causes of hip pain?

The most common causes of hip pain include:

  • Hip arthritis: causes pain that gets worse with activity and a limited range of motion.
  • Hip fractures: when bones are more prone to break as they age.
  • Bursitis: caused by repetitive activities that irritate the hip joint.
  • Tendinitis: when the tendons become inflamed or irritated due to overuse.
  • Strain of a muscle or tendon: makes the hip inflamed and makes it difficult for the hip to function properly.

How is hip pain diagnosed?

During the consultation, our orthopedic specialist will review your medical history, perform a physical exam and run some tests to get an accurate diagnosis of your condition. Imaging tests, such as an MRI, CT, Ultrasound, and X-ray, can provide a detailed look into your cartilage, bones, and other tissues that may be causing your hip pain.
